A 740 km ocean paddle in a two person sea kayak from Byron Bay to Bondi by two slightly crazed guys intent on raising funds and awareness for Prostate Cancer along the way. The paddle starts at Byron on 20th Dec 08 and we hope to finish by 10th Jan 09 covering 42kms per day and raising $10,000 in the process. Are you willing to help?

How can I donate money?
The purpose of our trip is to raise awareness of Prostate Cancer and funds for the Australian Prostate Cancer Foundation. To donate tax free we've set up a charity donation site at www.everydayhero.com.au/b2b4pc where all funds will be raised and donated straight to APCF

What is prostate cancer?
Each year in Australia, close to 3000 men die of prostate cancer - equal to the number of women who die from breast cancer annually
Around 18,700 new cases are diagnosed in Australian every year Prostate cancer can be cured if detected and treated while still confined to the prostate gland
While prostate cancer is most common in men over the age of 50, younger men with a history of prostate cancer in their family are at greater risk
What is complicated with prostate cancer is that some cancers grow very slowly and don’t threaten life, whilst others grow more rapidly and do
These can be treated if detected early but most people don’t even know what a prostate is!

Why is it difficult?
It's 665 kms of NSW coast line!
This isn't a group organised trip - it's just the two of us and neither of us have ever been in a sea kayak before

We've both got jobs that'll sack us if we don't get back in time
There are tides, fog, waves, wind, maps, sharks, sores, cramp, reefs, cliffs and surf beaches to contend with
There's only 5 months to plan and train for the journey
We'll be celebrating Christmas and New Year in a kayak
So far we don't have any camping equipment, a sea kayak or even a paddle - just the will to do things differently and some good intentions
